Graduation has come and gone for most of us (including me, just I graduated with two BA degrees!) and now it is time to take the next step. What should that step be? Register for classes!

Registering at Union College takes only about an hour this is what you have to do:

1. Call 1-800-288-4600. Tell the person on the line that you want to enroll.
2. The person will then ask for you confirmation deposit ($100, the money goes onto your school bill).
3. You will then be emailed a receipt of your deposit as well as a username and password to the Union College Self-service website.
4. Click the link and click this link (this will show you a page of all the different academic areas and curriculum guides).
5. “Shop” for classes like you would do online shopping and submit your cart.
6. Enjoy the relief of not having to wait in long lines for signing up for classes.
It’s a fairly simple process, but if you do have questions don’t hesitate to call. We would love to help you out!

Have you ever seen a status update on Facebook that says, “I need to stop wasting time on Facebook and do my homework!”? These are often updates on my news feed, at least. Here are some ways Facebook can actually help you do your homework.

1. Brainstorm with a friend. Have you ever had a paper to write and you can’t come up with any ideas? Go to Facebook chat, look for someone that you don’t usually chat with and ask them for ideas. This way they are more likely to help you and not get you sidetracked.

2. Find a study buddy. Go through your friends and see who hasn’t updated their profile picture in awhile. Most likely the person who hasn’t updated doesn’t spend that much time on Facebook and probably more time studying. Befriend them in real life and start studying!

3. Compare your life to others. There is always that one friend that takes it upon themselves to write every single thing that pops in their mind, spell it wrong and add annoying little emoticons (example: “i needa go to the bathroooooom,!D;”). Updates like this should encourage you to study hard, apply yourself and learn the value of spelling correctly. Without education you’re bound to sound like a 13-year-old girl forever.

4. Make Facebook a reward. Turn off the Facebook until you finish your assignment. That way you have a goal to work towards and a reason to finish that lab write-up about cellular respiration (this fascinating process of oxidizing glucose and other substances should be enough, though).
