It’s September 26; Good Morning Union

“The Lord helps them and delivers them… because they take refuge in Him.” Psalm 37

I guess I’ve gotten stuck in the psalms! That’s pretty easy for me to do. I like David’s honesty, his direct approach with God, and his instructions that continue to bless me. This morning is no exception. I have this chapter all marked in yellow and blue and I’ve titled it “Responsibility Chart- Mine and God’s.”

Here’s what David describes as what I call “my responsibility:”
1. “Do not fret or be envious of those who do wrong”
2. “Trust in the Lord and do good”
3. “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him”
4. “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him”
5. “Refrain from anger and turn from wrath”
6. “Turn from evil and do good”
7. “Wait for the Lord and keep His ways”
8. Consider the blameless, observe the upright”
9. “Take refuge in Him”

And in response to each of my responsibilities, God tells me what He will do:
1. “He’ll take care of the evil ones”
2. “He’ll make me dwell in the land and enjoy safety”
3. “He will give me the desires of my heart” (because if I’m taking care of my responsibilities then the ‘desires of my heart’ will be in harmony with His!)
4. “He will make me shine like the dawn”
5. “He will give me great peace in the promised land”
6. “He will help me live securely”
7. “He will exalt me above the wicked”
8. “He will give me a peace-filled future”
9. “He will help… deliver… and save me”

I have wasted a lot of time in my life trying to be responsible for God’s “responsibilities.” I’ve found a LOT more peace and joy focusing on what He said is my responsibility! See why I like David so much!? 

Have a great day focusing on Your responsibilities and let God take care of His,
Pastor Rich
