“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6
Last day of the month; last song of the psalms! I fixed this one in my memory long ago and it’s still one of them that comes up almost automatically at the most opportune times. Praise God “in;” praise God “for;” and praise God “with.”
“Praise the Lord” (the Hebrew word for that phrase is “Hallelujah!”)
1. IN His sanctuary,
2. IN His mighty heavens.”
I can praise Him at church and under the stars. Both are appropriate and necessary places to connect with God.
1. FOR His acts of power,
2. FOR His surpassing greatness.”
I can praise Him as I observe and experience Him in action, which He will do whenever I ask Him (as He sees fit) AND whenever He has had enough of sin!
1. WITH the sounding of the trumpet,
2. WITH the harp and lyre,
3. WITH tambourine and dancing,
4. WITH the strings and flute,
5. WITH the clash of cymbals,
6. WITH resounding cymbals.”
I can praise Him with traditional or contemporary music- as long at EITHER ONE is truly an expression of my praise to HIM!!
“Let EVERYTHING that has breath praise the Lord.”
Praise to God can be inclusive of ANY form of response that comes from a heart of gratitude to God for all He is, can be, and will be, in EVERYONE’S life as I respond to His greatness, His love, His forgiveness, His salvation, His Lordship of my life, AND value that individualized expression of “Hallelujah” in everyone else’s life too.
Have a great day “Hallelujahing” a great and wonderful God!
Quote for the day: “Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision.” —Puritan Prayer
