“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:22
I finished the last of the 5 books of Moses and we have come to the end of another school year. This will be the last GMU until we begin again in the fall. Moses has come to the end of his days. He just blessed each of the 12 families of Jacob and is ready to climb Mount Nebo, see the Promised Land and then die. Joshua is there by his side ready to take the leadership of God’s people and bring them into the land they had been promised 40 years ago as they left Egypt. What do you say when you know it’s the last thing you get to say?! Here’s what Moses said,
“Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper, and your glorious sword of protection. He is your refuge and His strength will uphold you forever!”
So, though I am NOT planning on any trips to Mt Nebo this summer and I HOPE these are not MY final words to you—I will say,
“Blessed are you, my Union College family! Who is like you, an amazing school community saved by the Lord? He will be our shield and helper all summer long. And He will protect us and be our strength to uphold us forever as we ‘choose life,’ as we choose God, and as we continue to make that daily decision to ‘choose you this day whom you will serve.’” (but that’s getting ahead of myself because that comes in the next book- Joshua! J) But I do pray God’s richest blessings on each of you. Graduates, enjoy the new life (but I’ll bet you’re going to miss college life before long!). And to the rest of you I’ll see you ALL in August as we continue our journey with Jesus!!
Have a great summer discovering more and more where your refuge and strength come from, See you again August 24,
