‘He has shown you… what is good,” Micah 6:8
I have a plan for October, which I will unveil tomorrow, so in the mean time I just sat down this morning and said to myself, ‘Myself—what is the best wisdom you can share today from God’s word?” There was a note in my Bible where it was laying open on my desk. It was not at yesterday’s text and I honestly don’t know how it happened to be opened here today, except as I believe my commitment each morning that if I am faithful to Him He will give me something to share.
The first text is Micah 6:8; “He has shown you O man what is good, and what does the Lord require of you?” And He then lists three things:
1. Do justly
2. Love mercy
3. Walk humbly
Wow, what would happen to my life if I allowed those three concepts to rule my every thought, attitude and action? Justice, Mercy, and Humility pretty much sums up life as God wants it for me.
And the second text is just as clear and concise. Matthew 24:37-40; The Great Commandment:
1. Love God with all your heart
2. Love your neighbor as yourself
The whole law is wrapped up in these two commandments; and the whole life is wrapped up in those three character qualities. As I am writing I actually think I already wrote about these texts earlier this year, but I’m not going back to check because even if I have they still deserve a replay they are so essential to understanding and applying this thing called Christianity.
So have a great day with two texts today!
